Where to start?

Begin your journey in Sevnica, where you can take in views of the Sava River — your guide to Rajhenburg Castle and onward to Brežice Castle. At the meeting point of the Sava and Krka rivers, you can follow the Krka upstream to Kostanjevica na Krki and its impressive former monastery, or continue along the Sava to reach Mokrice Castle.

The route also leads to Podsreda Castle, linking Posavje with the Kozjansko region. In the near future, we hope this trail will allow visits to other castles, including Raka, Šrajbarski turn (Leskovec pri Krškem), Bizeljsko, and Pišece — many of which are not yet restored or open to the public.

United under the regional name Castles of Posavje, we are doing our best to achieve our goal of bringing together the castles and the former monastery in Posavje through coordinated programs and marketing.

Our project seeks to use an innovative approach to increase the visibility and value of the castle network, as well as all existing and emerging activities in the area, ultimately opening the region to a broader Slovenian and international audience.
