About the Castles of Posavje
The castles of Posavje have been part of the cultural landscape for more than a millennium and bear witness to the lives of the inhabitants, which intertwined with the lives of all who traveled through these places to the east or west. From all sides of the sky and from all paths, castles greet you in the Posavje region.
The castles of Posavje have been connected since 2014, every year there is something new, but the years 2020 and 2021 are particularly special. During a time that was a challenge for everyone, our connection was named Jakob 2020 and the title of ambassador of innovation in tourism for the field of content and programs in castles and manors. In 2021, the E-castles of Posavje project was successfully completed and handed over to the public, where you can get to know the "seven magnificent ones" in one "castle room" at Terme Čatež. The project, led by the Posavje Regional Development Agency with the support of the Posavje municipalities, is one of the most high-profile projects for the digitization of immovable cultural heritage, where care for invaluable heritage and its virtual accessibility are linked. The castles of Brežice, Kostanjevica na Krki, Mokrice, Podsreda, Rajhenburg and Sevnica have also been joined by the still interesting ruins of the castles of Kunšperk and Svibno, which have been virtually "revived" by the project.

The project, which we named Castles of Posavje, was created in 2014 and is sustainably oriented. It includes the managers of six castles in Posavje that have joined the informal association, namely: Božidar Jakac Gallery Kostanjevica na Krki, which manages the former monastery in Kostanjevica na Krki, Kozjanski Park Podsreda, which manages Podsreda Castle, Krško Cultural Center, Rajhenburg Unit, which manages Rajhenburg Castle, KŠTM Sevnica, which manages Sevnica Castle, Posavski Museum Brežice, which manages Brežice Castle, and Terme Čatež, which owns Mokrice Castle. The activities were also joined by KTRC Radeče, which takes care of the ruins and area of Svibno Castle, and the Municipality of Bistrica ob Sotli for the former Kunšperk Castle. The Ministry of Culture, as the owner of the Šrajbarski turn, Bizeljsko and Pišece castles, was also invited to the group, but due to the inaccessibility or not yet open to the castles, they did not decide to participate, but we are keeping them informed about everything. United under the regional name Castles of Posavje, we are following the outlined project to the best of our ability, which includes the programmatic and promotional-marketing connection of castles in Posavje, establishing a new brand with the aim of jointly promoting public and market services, and committing to finding ways for cooperation and connection outside Posavje. The aim of the project is to use an innovative approach to raise the recognition and added value of the castle network, as well as all existing and developing activities in the region, and thereby achieve the greatest possible opening to the wider Slovenian and international space.
